What was suppose to be a non-existent Saturday in lots of places, turned into a hectic Saturday as many Regional Championships were decided across the state as well as some state quarterfinals and even some state championships.

Broadway knocked off Jefferson Forest 1-0 to avoid the long road trip to Southwest Virginia. The Cavaliers will now make the hike to take on Abingdon, while Broadway will host Richlands. Today's Schedule

Here is just a partial schedule of today's events.

State Track meet is taking place today at Harrisonburg High School for Group AA.

The Region III Baseball Championship game takes place at Heritage tonight at 6:00. Jefferson Forest and Brookville will be meeting for the 4th time. Cavaliers took the two regular season meetings, with Brookville knocking off JF in the District semifinal. The winner of this game will host Hidden Valley next week, while the loser will travel to Cave Spring.

The Region III Softball Championship happens tonight at Rustburg at 6:00. The Jefferson Forest Cavaliers and the Broadway Gobblers will take the field. The Cavaliers, the 4th seed in the Regional tournament, have really picked it up in the postseason. They entered the Seminole District tournament as the 5th seed. The Cavaliers will have some stiff competition in Broadway, who knocked off Northside, the winner of the 2010 state championship. The winner of this game will host Richlands next week, while the loser travels to Abingdon.

The Region III Boys Soccer championship is a district affair as well. Jefferson Forest and E.C. Glass will tangle at City Stadium at 6:00. Jefferson Forest, may be playing without standout Matthew Crider. Crider was given a red card in the Cavaliers semifinal win for an alleged punch. At press time, I am not sure if the incident was being reviewed, to try to get it overturned. E.C. Glass knocked off #2 seed William Byrd to reach this point. Winning this game could be vital. The Region IV title game is also tonight as the heavily favored Blacksburg Bruins will play Bassett at Martinsville High School at 6:00. Winner of the Jefferson Forest-E.C. Glass game will host the loser of Blacksburg and Bassett, while the loser will travel to meet the Region IV champion on their home field.

Jefferson Forest looks to win the Region III Girls Soccer title against the top seeded Spotswood Blazers tonight at Lord Botetourt. That game will take place at 5:00. The winner will host Salem next week, while the loser will travel to Blacksburg.

In Region B Baseball, the division 1 Championship will take place tonight at East Rockingham. The Luray Bulldogs take on East Rockingham at 6:00. Winner will host the loser of the Region A, Division 1 baseball game between Sussex Central and Rappahannock, which takes place today at Rappahannock at 3:00. Loser will travel to the Region A Champion.

Appomattox looks to win the Region B, Division 2 crown tonight at William Monroe High School. Game time is 7:00 at William Monroe. Both teams have earned berths into next week's state tournament. It's just a matter of do you want to travel, or play at home? Obviously both teams would like to get the home game. Winner will host the loser of  Essex and Nandua (that game was suspended in the bottom of the 8th tied at 3. That game will resume today at Nandua). Loser will travel to the Region A champion.

Also, there is a state quarterfinal tonight happening in Lynchburg. The E.C. Glass Hilltoppers Boys Lacrosse team will host North Stafford. That game begins at 6:00 on the turf field at E.C. Glass. Admission is $10.00
